Commenting For All Of Us

I used to be the type of blogger who stuck to myself, wrote my posts, and read various other blogs and sites on a regular basis. That suited me just fine until I got lonely. The bloggers that I followed were loved. They communicated not just in their posts, but in their comments. And people responded!! What a crazy thing this was, engaging with the audience! So I started to put a little comment here, a little comment there, and to my pleasant surprise people started commenting back!

We all have different ways of measuring success. For some, success has a monetary value, while for others it could be just being noticed. I don’t think I’ve quite decided what I feel would made me “successful” but I’ll be the first to admit that for every comment I receive, I feel that I am heard by someone and it feels great! It’s nice to know that you are writng to people, and not just getting lost in the interwebs!

So not only do I benefit by your comment, but so do you! I, like many other bloggers being the vain creatures that we are, always take a peek at who the heck has taken the time to comment on a post. If you leave me a comment, it’s guaranteed that you’ll get a hit on your website.

Communicating is a beautiful thing!! Commenting on the posts of others takes you from being a passive blogger into an active member of the blogging community. It gets you out there and it gets you heard. The more you engage other bloggers, the more you will get back!

  • Hi girliegeek!

I found your blog when poking around looking for Warcraft blogs and being a girl-gamer (though alas, still calling myself a girl is something I stopped getting away with several years ago *mourns*) I figured I see what you were about.

However it was actually this post that got me thinking more about blogging rather than geeking. So much so that I actually wrote something about it myself today.

Thanks for the inspiration and just wanted to say ‘hi’ because you’re right - it’s fun to engage with fellow bloggers, so keep at it :)

  • Hi GG (hope you dont mind me calling you that).
Great post and one that is thought provoking, sure we all blog for our own reasons, but we all love to get feedback, comments anything really that we can get our teeth into and start a “conversation” or debate. Also it proves that other people do visit and read, not just aimlessly search your site for the entrecard clicky to get credits.
Anyways thought i’d drop by and say hi, I did say hi on your “other”blog, I think it’s still waiting for approval ?
    Cya soon
    Buel

  • Thank you both for your kind words!

Wonk - Welcome to the blogosphere! I’m happy that you found this site, and in turn, that I found yours as well! I’m looking forward to reading since it looks like we share alot of similar interests!

Buel - Of course I don’t mind you calling me GG! You can call me whatever you want, it’s all been said before haha! I went over to the other blog (which we totally need to update lol) and approved the comment. Will do linky things as well!!
