Social Networks - My Picks

Everywhere you look now, someone else is telling you about some new social networking site that you just HAVE to sign up for. I’m very open to listing my blog on these various sites, anything that will get me a little more positive exposure is great in my books. But since I don’t have as much time for blogging as I used to or really, as much as I’d like to, I tend to fall behind and can’t keep up with the updates. So here are the things that I use regularly :

- This is a big hit all around right now. Seems like everyone and their dog has a Twitter feed to follow and new people are signing up all the time. I like it because it’s quick and easy to update and it’s nice to get a glimpse into the lives of fellow bloggers, business owners, etc who I look up to and respect. I currently have 150 followers and am grateful for every one of them. I like that every time I tweet, 150 people have just bee informed of my new post, or my new blog. It’s a great way to advertise and market yourself I think, because it adds a little bit of a personal touch. You can follow me on Twitter here!

- I really like Entrecard because not only does it allow me to advertise my blog on different sites, but it also introduces me to TONS of blogs I wouldn’t have found otherwise. I like being able to check out someone’s blog and “drop” them my card, letting them know that I was there to say hello. I’m sure it’s not the same for everyone, but I actually do read the posts on the blogs I drop at. I don’t just drop for credits. A good chunk of my readers have come from Entrecard so I’d recommend it in a heartbeat. Here I am on Entrecard.

- This last one is sort of a given. I’ll admit, I’m addicted. I check my Facebook more than I check my email some days which is pretty bad I think. I’m faced with a bit of an issue here though, because I do not connect my blogging with my Facebook because I find for now, Facebook is more personal than I want to share with that world for the time being. Does anyone else do the same. I don’t feel that I have anything to hide. But I am 23 years old so I don’t want any of my drunken antics and photos to impair what a potential online employer might think of me.

I realize that there are so many other social networks out there. Hell, I’m signed up for alot of them. It’s just that I either don’t know how to use them, I forgot my password, or I just haven’t gotten into the habit of using them regularly.

So I guess my question to you now is, which networks do you use that you find more beneficial? I’d be grateful to have your feedback!!

  • Woops forgot what I was gunna say >.<

Tweeting seems to be more blogger friendly. You meet many people all at once, and can set it up so that you can not only tweet about life in general but your blog posts as well…like a built in RSS reader. (twitterfeed.com is very handy as well as BigTweet.

TBH I never got in to facebook, but beware the entrecard lol! I starts small but you can get sucked into it fast, but the traffic I find is worth it.
