There have been quite a few really good game releases for the PS3 lately, and like any good little gamer … I bought them. Well I lie, L33tz0r actually bought them on staff discount at GAME but whatever I have them anyway!

So we picked up Saints Row 2 a few weeks ago and to be honest, I’m actually really impressed by it!! Sure, it’s not the sexiest game as far as graphics are concerned but it’s not pretending to be. They marketed this game as frigging fun and that’s what it is. I was pleasantly surprised at the sheer volume of customization in the game. It took me almost an hour (I kid you not) to create my character. Not only are there TONS of hairstyles, taunts, commpliments, clothes, voices, etc to choose from but you can also change the colour of almost anything you want. This instantly made me more connected to my character than to, say … Niko from Grand Theft Auto 4 (which I love, don’t get me wrong). And all of that is just in character creation. Once in game, your first mission is to go shopping for some new clothes. Again, I pissed L33tz0r off for taking an obscene amount of time choosing an outfit. But I had too!! You get points for style!!

As you can summize, I really like this game. Yes, it’s alot like GTA4. But at the same time, it’s very very different. You have so much more freedom and it feels alot more personal. You can choose to do some serious missions or you can choose to drive around and kill bums. I made the mistake of killing a bunch of hookers as soon as I started (hey they were looking at me funny!) and now all hookers and pimps are my enemies. Oh well.

Oh right, I got some other new games recently too. Today is L33tz0r’s birthday and he got Resistance 2 and Singstar. He’s been playing Resistance pretty much all day and I’ll just tell you that it looks awesome!! Graphically it’s very pretty and shiney. Game play seems smooth and I like the fact that you can play it in co-op mode. Since I haven’t played it myself, I can’t really tell you much more than that so I’ll have to leave it to L33tz0r to do a review.

Singstar is basically just kareoke … which I HATE, but I will admit that there are some really awesome song choices. Maybe after I’ve had a few drinks tonight I’ll give it a try haha!!

And how could I forget my favorite new game … Call of Duty 5! I’ve been looking forward to this one since I caught wind of it’s release and I was not disappointed. It stays with the controls and ease of CoD4, but adds some snazzy new graphics and a wicked story line to play through. I was able to jump into online mode without any difficulty because of the CoD4 controls, but I still knew it was different because there are colours other than grey, green and brown in it. Also, instead of having airstrikes in online play, you can now release the hounds!! The dogs will go searching to kill people and they don’t stop until they are killed themselves. The other good thing about the dogs is that, if you are on the recieving end, you can kill them instead of them eating your face. You do have to be very quick however because these little basards are brutal!!

I might have rambled on enough now because I didn’t want to get into too great of detail until I had the time to finish the games and write some full, comprehensive reviews on them.
