Ok I know this isn’t normally the type of post I’d do here … since it has nothing to do with me being a geek and all. But since I am pretty desperate and don’t have very much knowledge on the subject, I thought I’d take a stab out into the interwebs and look for help.

I am moving back home to Canada on Sunday (hoorah!) … but that means I’ll have to leave my sweetheart L33tz0r here (boooooo) for a while. He wants to come with me and immigrate but we’re unsure which is the best way to go about this.

There’s the Working Holiday maker visa from BUNAC which is about £280 (not including flights) and will allow him to work in Canada for 1 year. It should get him to Canada in mid-February I hear.

There’s also the more serious route of a sponsorship visa in the Family Class since we qualify as a common law couple. I’m not entirely sure on the price of that one but I would expect that it’s pretty steep. And I’ll bet it takes a long too. But the good thing about that one is that, as far as I can understand, we can apply for it while L33tz0r is in Canada. It would be soooo good if he could work WHILE the visa is in progress but I’m not sure if it works that way.

Does anyone else have any information that they could give us to shine a little light on the situation? We’re pretty desperate and will consider anything. Especially donations of millions of dollars so we won’t have to worry about him working hehe!!
