For all your girlie geeky needs
In addition to keeping this blog and job searching offline, I bet you didn’t know that I am also a freelance writer! Not a rarity in the blogging world these days I guess, which must be why it’s tough when you’re starting out. Finding steading work as a freelance writer can be a big challenge, especially if you aren’t sure where you should be looking.
To start, I suggest signing up with a few online job banks such as GetaFreelancer.com to help you find people who need writers, programmers, designers, or whatever it is you are offering. Choose your area(s) of expertise and recieve an email whenever a job in your field is posted. Make sure to check your email often though, because some of these jobs go quickly so it’s very beneficial to you is you’re one of the first to go for the job.
Get your name out there!! Write a post such as this one on your own blog or website telling everyone that you can write for them! Read the blogs of other writers and leave meaningful comments. Reading will give you ideas for your own writing and leaving comments (meaningful ones!!) shows that you are active in the virtual writing world.
Finally, don’t make the mistake of thinking that things will simply fall into your lap and that you’ll be rolling in the dough in a few short months. People like John Chow and Problogger worked hard to get into the position they are now and it didn’t happen overnight. While I do get a few writing jobs here and there, I certainly do not make nearly enough money to pay the bills. Some months I get just enough to pay for my hosting and that’s it. My name and reputation simply aren’t big enough to be earning me much. But I keep looking and trying because I enjoy it. Sure, a bit of money doesn’t hurt, but I really enjoy to write and I like to see that fruits of my labour are useful and entertaining to other people. That being said, if you need a freelance writer for any of your projects … pick me, pick me!!! ![]()

It is rather eclectic in it's subject matter, touching on things such as blogging for money, gaming and more. Please feel free to leave your comments and suggestions as they are very welcome and appreciated. And don't forget to pop in again soon :)
